About the artist

Gwyn Kaitis, is an artist, instructor and fabricator of fine art mosaics.   Her work has been exhibited nationally and is held in several private collections.  Gwyn is a Professional member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists and currently serves on their Board of Trustees.  She is an instructor of mosaic at both the Chicago Mosaic School and in her studio located in the Jewel of Joliet's historic Rialto Square Theater, designed by Rapp and Rapp in 1926.  She is a practicing artist with the nonprofit Rialto Arts District (RAD) and exhibits in RAD's Indigo Gallery.

In addition to her fine art mosaics she designs and fabricates interior and exterior architectural mosaics for homes and businesses.  She has experience designing and fabricating kitchen backsplashes, accent walls, fireplace surrounds, signage, and landscape mosaics.  An ability to collaborate with architects, contractors, and her clients have earned Gwyn a well deserved reputation as a true professional.

Gwyn displays a special passion for animals and particularly enjoys completing portraits of pets in the mosaic medium.  She works as a volunteer for the Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue and is owned by two English Mastiffs; Rocksy and Shadow.  As a result, she donates a portion of her business profits to assist homeless and abused aimals.

Some of Gwyn's professional affiliations include:

  • Society of American Mosaic Artists

  • Chicago Artists Coalition
  • Rialto Arts District Artists
